Winter Blues

Bye Bye winter, spring is just around the corner...only a week away! Winter in New York has been filled with plenty of snow flurries, slush and freezing temps and a ubiquitous sea of black coats on the street. 

While it's not yet completely warm and sunny it's a great time to transition from basic black to navy (so many styles to choose from) with a springier style in your step.

Not one to really follow trends (I'm not even really a hat person but I do have a hat head I suppose)...I nonetheless really wanted to own something from the epic collection as its gonna be one for the archives. I figured the hat would mix well with my YSL pieces from the 60's and 70's hanging in my closet.

Lately, I can't get through a magazine without spotting this hat at least once in an editorial. No wonder there was a wait list for this hat (a wait list seriously...so silly). Saint Laurent is certainly leading the charge on keeping wide brimmed hats in fashion. Hats off to Hedi Slimane's excellent start at Saint Laurent!

Oscars 2013... A mini recap

UGH, boo, ick, snooze... [insert dismayed expression here].  This year's Oscars are barely worth mentioning, with nary a gorgeous gown in sight.

Let's recap...

Anne Hathaway borrowed Madonna's crazy cone corset and wore it under a dress best suited for a Bat Mitzvah princess...

How could someone who's usually red carpet ready go so astray. But, oh hey...she won!

Adele rocked some serious hair...

 and Jennifer Lawrence tripped while heading to the stage. At least she was cushioned by her giant Dior couture gown... If only we could all fall so gracefully.  

Seriously though where are all the Oscar worthy gowns? Surely there was room for a colorful stunner like the gowns that just walked the runway at Oscar de la Renta.

London Fashion Week Street Style

Its probably so last week's news...but I'm loving some of the street style looks from London's Fashion Week.

Lots of patterns and textures (stripes, plaid, floral) mixed with cold weather staples (big jackets, a hint of fur, leather) makes for a perfect transition to spring.
